New Year Day at Brooklands
The New Year day meet at the Brooklands Museum where cars pre ‘73 line up around the banking and host of cars line up ready for the ERA World Cup Rally London to Cape Town. The London to Cape Town World Cup Rally endeavours to capture the spirit of the long distance World Cup Rallies of the 1970s. The event is designed as a “press on” driver’s challenge with Time Trials and a time-schedule to be maintained everyday.

The New Toyota Avensis
Transported directly to the French Riviera, where TD2 (the European design team of Toyota Europe) is based, the discovery of the New Avensis by Toyota is unveiled. The Toyota Building is modern, clean and accompanying their utterly environmentally friendly building of their UK headquarters in Derbyshire, this building also is keeps house with the environment too. Go Racing! – when a passion fuels you
I have often wondered how to define the act of being an artist and the art of being a commercial practitioner, and does this actually apply to a photographer who, essentially takes a story and features it through the medium of books and and magazine articles. Well these days, in order to get published one often has to come up with the ideas, (probably this has always been the norm, only I have been too busy to notice). But since completing my two books, my interests have diverted into my passions: that of motor racing and somehow, I have amalgamated the photographic side of shooting motor racing events and endurance races, to start to write about them and now, think about getting my race licence. I have engulfed myself with all that is motorsport, right from the beginning of fourteen years ago, when Country Life magazine sent me to Goodwood Revival and my love of theatre conversed beautifully with my love of classic cars.
The Boxing Project uses the Leica D-Lux 5
For the past year I have been collaborating with the Comune de Bassano del Grappa on a project called Boxing. A multigenerational, intercultural initiative using stories and reminiscence as its premise. I visit different towns (Bari, Bassano del Grappa and Maastricht) and work with an elder and a child, where the elder tells of a story about their life perhaps within dance, art or other work and pastimes, to the child and the child photographs aspects of the story. Both parties keep diaries throughout the duration of the project along with items to put in a hand made paper box.
Fuelled by books
In an extremely quiet room in the centre of London a very special collection of petrol head bibles line the book cases of the Royal Automobile Club Library. Something of a treasure then to find myself amongst them sniffing out the books and perusing the catalogue for further hidden gems, I realise that I am rather lucky indeed. Not that I can tell you what I am doing there (apart from the obvious, reading books), I will simply say that I hope to return and do some more perusing. I can say however, that since completing my book on Harris Tweed, I have got the bug to do another project. Today my nosiness fuelled me to just go and get a whole lot more nosy!

Present time
Since my book Harris Tweed was released to the world I have set up a thing called Google alerts and today I came across this blog: Present. I rather like the choice of books it has to offer (mine being one of them) but it really has an eclectic store of old and new classics:
Dennis Hopper, Bob Marley, Fred Herzog and yours truly! Books about Gucci and Rolex, Zippo and Shoes for Men, but the best part is that my book sits next to William Claxton’s book of Steve McQueen …..it is sold out on this website…. but I have it on my book shelf at home… ….fabulous book ….
Check out the Present Blog its a curious thing.
